It's been two years since my workplace switched me from Mac to Windows.

2 YEARS AGO: 'This bites.'

Enough time has passed for me to draw some informed opinions.

TODAY: 'This continues to bite.'

Plus side: I can do my work 'good enough' on Windows.

'Good enough.'

2: The software is the same as Mac software, mostly.

'No cigar.'

3: The IT guys love Windows -- the latest neat stuff runs on Windows . .
.

'I'm happy for them.'

. . . including all the latest viruses and malevolent e-mail.

'Boo-hoo.'

4: The business side loves Windows -- Windows is cheap. To the business
side, a computer . . . is a computer is a computer.

'I get what they pay for,'

Minus side: 1: The machines are 'helpful' even when you don't want help.

' 'Thanks,' Clippy.

2: While Windows leads Mac in many business programs . . .

'I can past a Web page in an e-mail!'

. . . Mac continues to dominate photo and design applications -- they
work better on a Mac.

'Sigh.'

3: To propery work with and display photos and graphics on a Windows box
. . .

you have got to spend as much on a Windows box as on a Mac box.

Did that happen at my workplace? I'll let you guess.

4: Windows is ugly . . . .

It's an uphill fight everyday to overcome its ugliness to make non-ugly
stuff.

Conclusion: I love working on my Mac at home.

'Ahh.'
