On My High Horse: 'I've got a bad feeling about this' Copyright 2005 by David Steinlicht www.allsmall.net steinlicht@pobox.com The thought of the new remake of King Kong gives me the heebies. Oh, sure, Peter Jackson is a genious and all that. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was great . . . blah, blah, blah. The cynical Kong remake in the '70s sucked -- though deadpan Charles Grodin was fun. But the original Kong is a classic. The movie and its effects are filled with innocence and energy. The previewed computer effects in the new Kong look very close to real life, but will they have the spark of life? And I just can't see what role good ol' Jack Black will realistically play. . . . . . other than an irresponsible, cynical slob of an adventurer. That may be funny, but how does it help this movie? And three hours long? Brother! Please, prove me wrong, Mr. Jackson! End
